Jay z Concert in Ottawa

It was like an out of body experience! Wale hit the stage warming up the crowd with his hits "chillin" and "Nike boots". The crowd was swaying side to side following his lead and vibing off his energy. N.E.R.D hit the stage with their new member Rhea that girl can sing anddd she's from Canada yayyyy!!! Pharrell, Chad and Rhea transformed the hip hop concert into a rock concert and I was definitely feeling it. They invited girls from the audience on stage to party with them as they sang "All the Girls standing in the line for the bathroom". The crowd then counted down 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and H.O.V.A himself rose from the centre of the stage banging out such hits as "Run this Town" and "Empire State of Mind". J.Cole came out and performed "A Star is Born"...amazing moment!! He concluded the show with "Forever Young" which left me in a serene mood. He brought fans on stage to sign autographs and chat it up...what a sweet man.

Overall I LOVED the concert!!!

Where to begin...this weekend was a big LET DOWN!

The first event I attended was held at Fordham University by their African American Student Association. Of course, most of the African American Students were M.I.A. On top of all that the DJ was soooooooooooooo wack. He was one of those special DJs who loves to play every song to the end. This party was so HORRIBLE, I do not tink it deserves more than a paragraph of my time.

The next event was in an unknown venue, literally underneath a 'prostitute lounge' (or so I was told). AGAIN, out of the depths of New York City came another wack DJ who loves to play the full version of songs. On top of all that everyone was acting really childish, jumping up and down all over the place. The whole thing reminded me of the basements parties I use to frequent during high school.

As for the fashion aspect, you can judge that for yourself. All I can was that I expected better.

The night started out GREAT...I stepped out my car and found a wet twenty dollar bill that I donated to my alcohol fund for the night. Speaking of wet, even though it was raining and thundering people showed up to Photogenic in herdssssssssss. I can tell this party had a very large loyal following.


The music got better as the night went by, I was especially impressed with DJ's Spoonz's skills towards the end of the night. All I can remember was listening to White Bricks and then it switched to Lil'Wayne and everyone rushed to the dance floor. He definately knows how to get people on the dance floor.


Fashion wise, I did not see anything that wowed me, I felt that everyone looked at bit commerical. Oh well not everyone is gifted in the arts of creative dressing. PS CHECK THE GIRL IN THE BOOTS at around 1:15 min into the slide show. YOUR THOUGHTS???

Sooo...prior to this night I will admit I was a fan of Sammie's music...I even thought that he grew up to be a nice looking man. Sammie walked into the club and accidentally brushed me when I then turned around to see who touched me I noticed it was a short black man that looked about late 30's I then realized "Hey that's Sammie"...at that point all his ratings just plummetted. I guess the promoters of Sunday Night Raw thought Sammie was going to lure in a bigger crowd but that really wasn't the case...no one even realized his presence.
The reggae music was definitely on point but Sammie was giving the "WTF is going on" look to his boys...I guess he really isn't that cultured. He sang a little bit of "Kiss me through the phone" and spent the majority of the night sitting down looking confused and out of place. I am a huge hip-hop fan so when Nicki Minaj came blasting out of those speakers I was quite content.
p.s. Toronto DJs need to get up on the Nicki Minaj dubs...she's the illest bitch in the game right now!!!
Other than Sammie...the music was on point as per usual...but Sunday Night Raw has seen better nights...my conclusion Sunday Night Raw ft Sammie was IIGHTTT!!!

Vola Lounge

The concept was innovative...you know the whole school daze thing was a play on Spike Lee's 1988 hit film "School Daze" but some people took it to a whole new level rocking Jansport book bags to a party...it's a party not a masquerade. WhiteBwoy (Vertex Sound), Dj Spoonz and Dj Lissa Monet were on the 1's and 2's. Lissa Monet definitely went in and repped for the ladies and all the hip-hop lovers. It was far from being full but those that were in attendance brought the swag...and the men...oooweee...definitely brought the swexy ;)

conclusion: School Daze was satisfactory

R&B lovers were in full attendance and they brought the swag. There were a few fashion mishaps but all in all people brought the swexy. Dj Charlie Brown kicked it old school by bumping such 90's hits as "I'm going down" and "Real Love" by the R&B queen herself Mary J. Blige. I got a little thrown off track considering it was a R&B party and I was definitely hearing some Backstreet Boys...last time I checked those dudes were classified as Pop artists. Nonetheless the vibes picked back up when DJ Rych Kydd got the whole crowd singing to Lauryn Hill's "Killing me Softly."

DJ Rory went to work on the reggae...he even had some of the ladies sweating out their lacefront wigs. The high rollers and ballers were definitely occupying the booths and the bottles were rolling. They were surely loose off the Goose because I was seeing some grown ASS MEN shooting up some bullet signs and yelling BOM BOM when Backstreet Boys was being played *side eye and blank stare*...I enjoyed myself and it was evident that everyone else did also...my conclusion: I LUV R&B was a hit!!
